SHILLONG, MAR 25: Governor C. H. Vijayashankar on Wednesday distributed financial assistance under his Discretionary Grant to 23 institutions and organisations across the state, underscoring the role of such support in strengthening grassroots institutions and promoting inclusive development.
A total of ₹99,70,000 was disbursed to a diverse range of beneficiaries, including cultural organisations, educational institutions, community groups, social bodies and sports organisations.
Among the recipients were the Harmini Preparatory Music Academy, the Biate Cultural Organisation of Meghalaya, and Capt. Williamson Sangma State University, along with several schools and community-based organisations.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor expressed confidence that the financial assistance would contribute meaningfully to educational advancement, cultural preservation and overall community welfare in Meghalaya.
“The support will go a long way in strengthening grassroots institutions and promoting inclusive development,” he said.
Principal Secretary to the Governor, H. C. Chaudhary, was also present on the occasion.
