Shillong, Apr 14: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) along with Seng Samla Shnong of Laitumkhrah apprehended and handed over one Bulu Malakar, a pharmacist from Assam to the police after he allegedly molested a local woman at a pharmacy.

“The incident occurred when the victim went to the pharmacy to buy medicine, and the accused, under the guise of checking her blood pressure, pulled her inside and attempted to assault her,” a statement issued by the KSU said on Tuesday.

The victim managed to escape and reported the incident to the members of the KSU Laitumkhrah Unit, who immediately along with members of the Seng Samla Shnong Laitumkhrah led by secretary of New Colony filed a complaint with the Laitumkhrah Police Station.

The KSU and local residents have shut down the pharmacy and demanded strict action against the perpetrator.

“We condemn this heinous act and demand that the authorities take immediate action against the accused,” the statement said.
