SHILLONG, MAY 18: Sacred Heart Theological College, Mawlai, celebrated the Golden Jubilee of its reopening (1976–2026) with a two-day programme held on May 16 and 17 under the theme, “Shepherds in the Making… Shaped by His Heart – Expressions of Mission: A Mosaic.”

The celebration brought together priests, religious members, formees, youth, and lay collaborators through a series of cultural and spiritual programmes, including dramas, dances, instrumental performances, talks, and visual presentations by the Brothers and Sisters of the College.

The events reflected the institution’s mission of forming shepherds inspired by the Heart of Jesus and highlighted its contribution to priestly and religious formation over the past five decades.

The first day of the celebration was dedicated to priests, religious members, and formees. Sr. Mable Dhar attended the programme as the chief guest. Around 650 participants took part in the day’s events, which focused on gratitude and appreciation for those engaged in priestly and religious formation.

The second day centred on youth and lay collaborators, with Fr. Edmund Gomes gracing the occasion as chief guest. Nearly 600 young people participated in the celebrations, which organisers described as a vibrant expression of faith, mission, and unity.

The Jubilee celebration concluded with a renewed commitment by the College to continue its mission of forming shepherds according to the Heart of Jesus for the service of the Church and society.
