Union Discusses RCW Status, EPF and Welfare Benefits for Workers

Shillong, August 14: The Muster Roll PHE Workers’ Union has expressed gratitude to the Chief Executive Engineer of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department for clearing wages that had remained pending for several months.

Speaking to the media after a union meeting held at the Dorbar Hall, Wahingdoh, on August 14, Union President Nazarus Lanong said the release of the pending dues had brought much-needed relief to muster roll workers and their families.

The meeting also discussed various issues concerning the rights, job security and welfare of PHE muster roll workers across Meghalaya.

Key matters included benefits under the Regular Casual Worker (RCW) system, Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) coverage, and other welfare measures.

The union decided to collect detailed reports on the working and service conditions of muster roll employees from different districts.

These reports will be compiled and submitted to the competent authorities of the PHE Department and the State Government for appropriate action.

Lanong urged all muster roll workers to remain united and extend cooperation to the union as it continues to pursue their legitimate demands.

He also said the union would maintain regular communication with engineers and departmental officials to help ensure that workers receive their wages and other entitled benefits on time.

The union reiterated its appeal to the State Government to formulate clear and effective measures for the long-term welfare, protection and job security of muster roll workers serving under the PHE Department.
