SHILLONG, SEPT 10: UDP general secretary Titosstarwell Chyne on Thursday said the party has received no official word from its MLAs amid reports that 9 of its 12 legislators are set to join the BJP.
“We have not received any official letter,” Chyne said, adding that the MLAs he contacted “neither denied nor confirmed” the move.
He said the party is open to introspection.
“Posts are not personal property. If Metbah or I are the reason they want to leave, we are ready to step down to strengthen the party,” he said.
The UDP has called an emergency CEC meeting on Friday coinciding with its foundation day and invited all MLAs, MDCs and CEC members.
On whether the cabinet reshuffle triggered the unrest, Chyne said it was the Chief Minister’s prerogative.
