Hardy Cliff Nongbri scores four as Nongkseh register biggest victory of the season
Shillong, September 11: Nongkseh produced a stunning performance in the Shillong Premier League 2026, thrashing Meghalaya Police 7-1 at the SSA Stadium here today.
Captain Hardy Cliff Nongbri delivered a remarkable individual display, scoring four goals in the 5th, 12th, 55th and 87th minutes to register the first hat-trick of SPL 2026. The victory also marked the biggest winning margin of the season so far.
Hardy struck twice inside the opening 12 minutes as Nongkseh immediately asserted their dominance. Kitboklang Pale added a third in the 42nd minute, sending Nongkseh into half-time with a commanding 3-0 lead.
There was no let-up after the restart as Hardy completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute before Shano Tariang made it 5-0 in the 61st. Substitute Aenam Jyrwa added another four minutes later to leave Meghalaya Police facing an insurmountable deficit.
Bisharlang Kharumnuid pulled one back for Meghalaya Police in the 78th minute, but it proved little more than a consolation in an otherwise one-sided contest. Hardy then completed his four-goal haul in the 87th minute to cap a memorable outing for Nongkseh.
The emphatic victory also provided a strong response to Nongkseh’s difficult start to their maiden SPL campaign. Before today’s match, they had collected just four points from four games and occupied eighth position, having scored only two goals—the lowest tally in the league.
Meghalaya Police, meanwhile, had entered the match in fourth place with seven points.
The two sides had last met in an SSA competition in the First Division 2025 title decider, where Nongkseh edged Meghalaya Police 1-0 to lift the trophy. Both teams subsequently earned promotion to the SPL as champions and runners-up respectively.
Nongkseh went on to win both the SSA Champions Cup and Meghalaya State League before making their SPL debut this season.
With today’s victory, Nongkseh climbed to fourth in the standings with seven points from five matches and a +5 goal difference. Nangkiew Irat also have seven points but remain fifth with a -1 goal difference, while Meghalaya Police slipped to sixth with seven points and a -5 goal difference.
Shillong Lajong will face Sawmer tomorrow, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm at the SSA Stadium.
