Shillong, September 18: Meghalaya made a flying start to their Dr Talimeren Ao National Football Championship for Junior Girls (Tier 2) 2026-27 campaign, thrashing Jammu and Kashmir 8-0 in their opening Group C match today.
Meghalaya dominated from the outset and went into the half-time break with a 3-0 lead.
Peacefully Pohplet opened the scoring in the 3rd minute before completing her brace in the 21st minute. Nishalin Nongrum added Meghalaya’s third goal in the 34th minute.
The state side continued their dominance after the break, scoring five more goals.
Jenisha Rani made it 4-0 in the 49th minute, before Nishalin struck again in the 66th minute to complete her brace.
Deiphiwansara Lyngkhoi added another two minutes later, while Bansara Rynshiang scored in the 83rd minute and again deep into stoppage time at 90+2 minutes to complete the 8-0 victory.
Meghalaya will next face Punjab on Sunday at 8:30 am, looking to build on their impressive opening result.
