SHILLONG, SEPT 19: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Saturday participated in the Conference of State Finance Ministers’ and Finance Secretaries’ on ‘Financing India’s Journey towards Viksit Bharat’ held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Posting after the conference on X, Sangma said the agenda resonates strongly with Meghalaya’s development model.

“Attended the Conference of State Finance Ministers’ and Finance Secretaries’ on ‘Financing India’s Journey towards Viksit Bharat’ at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi,” he wrote.

He said key themes of the conference — public finance reforms, innovative financing, agriculture, energy transition, technology, and GSDP-based growth measurement — mirror Meghalaya’s priorities.

“The discussions on strengthening public finances, innovative financing, agriculture, energy transition, technology and measuring growth through GSDP were particularly relevant to Meghalaya’s own economic journey,” Sangma said.

The Chief Minister said Meghalaya is anchoring its growth on its flagship economic vision.

“Through Mission 10, Meghalaya is pursuing a focused transformation agenda across key sectors, with an emphasis on creating opportunities, strengthening infrastructure, supporting livelihoods and enterprises, and building a more resilient and sustainable economy,” he said.

Stating that the 2032 target requires new financing ideas, Sangma said, “As we work towards our vision for Meghalaya in 2032, platforms such as these provide valuable opportunities to learn from other States, engage with experts and explore new approaches to financing development.”

He also thanked the Union Finance Minister and participants, saying, “Grateful to Hon’ble Union Finance Minister Smt. @nsitharaman ji and all the distinguished speakers and participants for the insightful deliberations.”
