Shillong, September 21, 2026: Meghalaya Police produced a dominant performance to defeat bottom-placed Mylliem 5-0 in the Shillong Premier League 2026 at the SSA Stadium here on Monday.
Balmingstar Lyngkhoi scored a hat-trick in the 4th, 31st and 68th minutes, while Everestarly Rynjah added another in the 61st minute. Mylliem defender Fedrick Wahlang scored an own goal in the 77th minute to complete the rout.
The victory lifted Meghalaya Police from eighth to third in the standings with three points, level with defending champions Langsning, but ahead on head-to-head record.
Mylliem remain at the bottom with just one point from six matches and now face a difficult battle to avoid relegation.
Balmingstar opened the scoring in the fourth minute after a back pass from Fedrick was slowed by the wet surface and failed to reach goalkeeper Rihoklang Khongjoh. Balmingstar seized the opportunity, rounded the keeper’s challenge and slotted the ball home.
The striker doubled the advantage in the 31st minute after Rapborlang Marwein delivered a cross from the right flank, which Balmingstar headed into the net.
Everestarly made it 3-0 in the 61st minute, tapping the ball home after Bisharlang Kharumnuid sent a cross into the box from the left.
Balmingstar completed his hat-trick seven minutes later after Wanpynshngain Nongsteng lost possession. His subsequent shot went through Rihoklang’s hands and into the net.
Mylliem’s misery was completed in the 77th minute when Fedrick, attempting to intercept another cross from Rapborlang, inadvertently turned the ball into his own goal.
Fedrick had earlier made an important defensive intervention, throwing himself in front of an Everestarly effort to prevent another goal.
Mylliem struggled to create opportunities in attack, a contrast to their previous 3-3 draw against Shillong Lajong.
The match also marked a clean-sheet debut for Meghalaya Police goalkeeper Basuklang Nongsiej. It was the police side’s first match of the season without conceding a goal.
Tomorrow, Langsning will have an opportunity to move to the top of the table when they take on Nangkiew Irat at 3pm.
