Shillong, September 26, 2026: Defending champions Langsning returned to the top of the Shillong Premier League 2026 table after securing a hard-fought 2–0 victory over bottom-placed Mylliem at the SSA Stadium on Saturday.
Langsning had to wait until the final stages to break the deadlock, with Wallambok Dkhar scoring in the 77th minute before Samuel L. Kynshi sealed the win in the second minute of stoppage time.
The victory takes Langsning to 16 points from seven matches, moving them above Shillong Lajong, who have 14 points from the same number of games. Mylliem remain at the bottom with just one point from seven matches, leaving their hopes of avoiding relegation increasingly uncertain.
Langsning’s opening goal came from a corner that Mylliem could have avoided. Defender Rajat Peter Lyngdoh, making his first start of the season, attempted to clear a loose ball despite goalkeeper Rihoklang Khongjoh calling for it. His miscued clearance went out for a corner.
Samuel delivered the resulting corner, and Wallambok rose highest to head the ball into the net in the 77th minute.
Mylliem had opportunities to get back into the contest. Remark Kharmalki sent a free-kick narrowly over the crossbar around the hour mark, while Caldolan Kharmawphlang and Istarbor Marngar combined well with quick passing before the ball ran out of play.
Istarbor later fired over from close range as Mylliem struggled to find the finishing touch.
Langsning also created several opportunities through Kyrmenskhem Mukhim and Syed Ahmed, while Mebanshngain Kurkalang came close in the second half. His 83rd-minute effort on the run went just wide and into the side netting.
The second goal arrived in stoppage time when Samuel struck a low shot from outside the box that went through goalkeeper Rihoklang Khongjoh’s hands.
It was not Langsning’s most convincing performance, but the result extended their strong run. They have now won four of their last five matches and kept clean sheets in their last three games.
The victory is particularly important with Langsning facing Shillong Lajong on October 1 and Nongkseh on October 10 in their remaining fixtures.
Meanwhile, sixth-placed Sawmer will take on fourth-placed Nongkseh on Monday at 3pm. Only one point separates the two sides heading into the encounter.
