SHILLONG, SEPT 30: The collaboration between the Government of Meghalaya and the United Nations World Food Programme on food security and PDS reforms has been extended with both sides signing an amendment to their agreement on Tuesday.

The amendment to the agreement that has been in force since 2022 was signed at WFP India headquarters in New Delhi in the presence of Meghalaya’s Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Methodious Dkhar.

On behalf of the state government, Commissioner & Secretary Pravin Bakshi signed the amendment, while WFP India Country Director Elisabeth Faure signed on behalf of the UN agency.

Director of Food Civil Supplies I Mawlong, Under Secretary B Syiemlieh, and OSD S K War were part of the state delegation, along with WFP officials Ankit Sood and Rodrick John.

The government said the partnership, which covers supply chain optimisation, digital innovation in PDS, beneficiary services and capacity building, will now be further strengthened to improve food security systems and advance the Zero Hunger goal in the state.
