Shillong, Sept 30: The Voice of the People Party on Wednesday said its MDC’s intervention in the staff nurse recruitment at Nongstoin was not sudden but followed an unaddressed complaint filed earlier this month.

Reacting to the West Khasi Hills administration’s statement on the disruption of interviews on September 29, VPP spokesperson A W Rani said MDC Juristman Iawphniaw had flagged alleged irregularities before Deputy Commissioner on September 17.

He said despite the complaint, the interview process was pushed through, forcing the MDC and party workers to step in physically to stop it until the allegations were looked into.

Rani said the VPP is not against the recruitment itself but wants a clean process where all candidates get a fair chance.

He said reducing the issue to a mere disruption misses the point and called for independent verification of the complaints, including the audio clip submitted as evidence.

The party sought an impartial inquiry and said the recruitment should continue only after the allegations are cleared and trust is restored, asserting that it stands for transparent and accountable governance.
