SHILLONG, OCT 1: Shillong Police has put in place elaborate arrangements ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s two-day visit to the city on October 4-5.
East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem on Thursday said traffic advisories will be issued to minimise inconvenience to commuters.
“Elaborate preparations have been made for the coming of the Union Home Minister slated for October 4 and 5. Advisories will be given by the SP Traffic on which routes to avoid and timings, so that we will try to cause the least inconvenience,” he said.
Syiem said traffic movement has been given special attention. “A lot of meticulous planning has been made considering traffic, because that is the biggest concern,” he added.
On security, the SP said tactical teams and different units have been mobilised.
“Elaborate security management has been made all along the way. About 1500 personnel will be deployed and everything is in place,” he said.
Shah will be in Shillong to confer the prestigious Presidential Colours on Meghalaya Police.
“This is a matter of pride and achievement for Meghalaya Police. We are one of the few North Eastern states to have achieved this. This is because of the sacrifice, integrity and dedication in our service,” Syiem said.
“We will endeavour to give the best to the public and ensure that policing reaches its zenith in professionalism, delivery and integrity,” he added.
