Demonetization cures poverty disease: Union Minister of State for Defence

Shillong, Oct 9 : Union Minister of State for Defence, Subhash Ramrao Bhamre on Monday said that demonetization of old currency notes, Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 was like a medicine that can cure the disease of poverty.

“This (demonetization) is like a medicine that cures a disease of poverty but then sometimes all medicines is not sweet, some of the medicines tasted bitter,” he said on the sidelines Mudra Promotion Campaign here

Bhamre claimed that the advantage of demonetization was that people at large were happy.

Stating that the country moves forward to a cashless environment after demonetization, the Union minister urged everyone to unite and pledge to make India digitally-enabled society.

Earlier, the Union Minister addressing a gathering after inaugurating the “Mudra Promotion Campaign” organized at U Soso Tham auditorium here in the presence of Meghalaya Taxation Minister, Zenith Sangma and other officials.
