Tourism festival: NEC to organise Living root bridge heritage walk on Oct 19

Shillong, Oct 14: A trekking will be organized for school children by the North Eastern Council and North East Tourism Development Council, and Campfire Trails, Shillong as part the of tourism festival (Paryatan Parv) on October 19.
The tourism festival titled ‘Trek with a purpose – Living root bridge heritage walk at Mawkyrnot, Pynursla” will be flagged off by NEC secretary from the NEC secretariat premises Nongrim Hills at 9 am.
The Union Tourism Ministry had announced a mega 20-day event, ‘Paryatan Parv’ (Tourism Festival) from October 25 to 25 across the country to celebrate India as a tourism destination.

The Ministry in collaboration with various central ministries organized a series of cultural events at various tourists’ hotspots across the country, drawing focus on the benefits of tourism, showcasing the cultural diversity of the country and reinforcing the principle of “Tourism for All”.

The programme focused on encouraging Indians to explore their own country. Tourism events such as interactive sessions and workshops on skill development and innovation in the sector were conducted across all states

“Adopt a Heritage” project, which was launched by the President on World Tourism Day, will be also implemented at key sites.
