Shillong, Oct 14: NPP legislator from Songsak, Nihim D. Shira said that the party was prepared to defeat chief minister Mukul Sangma while welcoming him to contest from Songsak.

Addressing a meeting at Jowai on Saturday, Nihim said that the chief minister is contesting from Songsak constituency in the upcoming election and the party was prepared to defeat him.

“I welcome the challenge of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, who is contesting from Songsak. It is certain that he will lose the election in Songsak. NPP’s ground is ready and we are going to give a tough fight to the Congress,” Nihim said.

Nihim is the MLA of Songsak constituency for two terms since 2008.

The chief minister who represents Ampati constituency since 1993, would contest from two seats – Ampati and Songsak in the upcoming Assembly poll to be held early next year.
