Shillong, Oct 27: Nongkrem MDC, Hispreaching Son Shylla who joined three political parties withn one year said that he would always wear a badge “No Permanent party (NPP)” in him.
On Friday, Shylla joined the National People’s Party (NPP) within two months after he joined the newly floated political party, People’s Democratic Front (PDF).
First, Shylla was with the United Democratic Party (UDP) after he won the bye-election to the KHADC from Nongkrem constituency held in December 2016.
After leaving the UDP, Shylla joined the PDF on August 30 this year.
However on Friday, Shylla joined the NPP and he was welcomed by State NPP president, Dr W.R. Kharlukhi at the NPP office, Lachumier here.
On his frequent shifting of allegiance, Shylla said that anybody who has no guts or does not know how to make moves, such person is useless.
Asked if he would again shift from the NPP, Shylla said, “I stand on a principle that any move I make is for the benefit of the electorate. Electorate in Meghalaya did not choose a leader because of a party, but they judge an individual. Now I have joined NPP, and I would wear a badge of ‘No Permanent Party,” he said.
According to Shylla, shifting allegiance would not do any as long as the leader is serious in fulfilling the aspirations of the people.
He said that the NPP has a bright future and he has high hope that it will emerge as the single largest party in 2018 and take the lead in forming the government.
“The NPP is growing from strength to strength not only in Garo Hills but in Khasi-Jaintia region too,” he observed.
Shylla also praised NPP national president Conrad K. Sangma who has assured that the chief ministerial candidate will go to the region which won the highest number of MLAs in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
“If NPP gets more MLAs from Khasi Jaiñtia Hills, Conrad has already hinted that Prestone Tynsong is a fit leader who can lead the state ( as chief minister),” Shylla said.
Shylla criticized sitting MLA of Nongkrem, Ardent M. Basaiawmoit for his alleged failure to bring development in the constituency, and accused the MLA of giving excuses when people approached him to address their problems that “he cannot help them since he is not in power.”
On the UDP-HSPDP alliance, Shylla said that the claim of UDP president Dr Donkupar Roy that the alliance would get 32 seats is only an imagination since the number of MLAs that the alliance would get would be by removing 2 from the front or remove 3 from the back, or just by adding 2 and 3 or multiplying 2 and 3.
Shylla said that though he had associated with the PDF, it was not required for him to tender the resignation letter from PDF, since there was no official enrolment as primary member of the party, but he was felicitated only with a “muffler” on that day.
He also said that the PDF’s Constitution is questionable as the aims and objective in the Constitution of the PDF was copied from a party in Assam.
