Shillong, Nov 1: The Congress-led Meghalaya United Alliance (MUA-II) government will soon place the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission before the state Cabinet for its approval in connection with revision of salary for the state government employees.
“The matter is in the final stage and we will soon bring it to the cabinet for approval,” chief minister Mukul Sangma told reporters here on Wednesday.
He said that the state government was prepared to fulfill the aspirations of employees notwithstanding challenges.
On the sanctioning of fund for MLA scheme, the chief minister said that the government has to look at everything, be it resources, implementation of pay commission, other developmental agendas that the government still has to implement within this period.
Admitting that MLAs get pressure from electorates, Sangma said, “as a leader, we will try to carry the people along. That is the job of a leader. If they cannot carry the people along, then the leadership quality is in question.”
