Shillong,Jan 5: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Friday said that the Congress would response to its former legislators, who have left and joined other political parties, in the battle field.

“We will respond to them (ex-MLAs of the party) in the battle field,” Sangma told reporters here on Friday.

He was reacting to the allegation made by former Congress minister Prestone Tynsong, who officially joined the National People’s Party (NPP) at a public rally held yesterday at Polo Ground, that the CM is holding over 18 portfolios alone.

In his address at the rally, Tynsong said that the chief minister was a record breaker by holding many departments while ignoring the capabilities of the 11 other cabinet ministers.

“Out of 29 chief ministers in India, it is only Mukul who is holding not less than 18 departments despite Meghalaya having 11 other cabinet ministers,” he had stated.

Hitting back at Tynsong, chief minister said only few out of 12 ministers in the cabinet are available.

“You have 12 ministers but few hardly are available in the secretariat,” he said while adding that the departments held by him are crucial.

“They (Tynsong and others) are also cabinet ministers themselves. But one have to be analytical on their performances,” Sangma said.
