Shillong, Jan 18: The Election Commission has announced the poll schedule for Meghalaya where voting will be held on February 27 and counting of votes will take place on March 3.
This announcement was made in New Delhi on Thursday by Chief Election Commisioner, A.K. Joti.
Joti said that elections in all the three states will be held in a single phase.
Joti said that polling for Nagaland Assembly will be held on the same day with Meghalaya and polling for Tripura Assembly will be held on February 18.
Counting of votes in all the three states will be held on March 3.
Fling of nomination papers will commence in Meghalaya on January 31 and the last date of filing of nominations is February 7.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on February 8, and withdrawal of nominations is on February 12.
The current ninth Meghalaya Assembly which was constituted on March 7, 2013, and it will expire on March 6.
There are 60 Assembly seats and 3,082 polling stations in Meghalaya.
Meghalaya has a total of 18,30,104 voters which include 9,06,256 male and 9,23,848 female.
In 2013, Meghalaya has a total of 15,02,509 voters which has now increased by 3,27,595 rin five years.
