Shillong, Jan 29: The Bakur Social Welfare Sports Club (BSWSC), West Jaintia Hills District will organize the second “Miss Hynñiewtrep 2018” at Dawki on February 17.

Addressing reporters here on Monday, president of the Club, Daniel Khongsit said the beauty pageant aimed at providing platform to the youth to showcase their talents especially aspiring contestants belonging to the Khasi community who reside in Khasi and Jaiñtia Hills.

The winner of the contest will be crowned along with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh,1st runners-up Rs 50, 000 and 2nd runners-up Rs 25, 000.

He said that the 1st “Miss Hynñiewtrep 2017” was a big success where 28 youth from Khasi Hills, Jaiñtia Hills and Ri-Bhoi had participated and showcased their talents.

Khongsit informed that the Club would also organize a dancing competition on February 16. The cash prize for the winner is Rs 30,000.

Meanwhile Naphila Warbah from Nongkrem, who was crowned “Miss Hynñiewtrep 2017” called upon the youth to participate in the competition as it is the platform not only for showcasing one’s own talent but also to empower women, develop their personality and boost self-esteem.
