Shillong, Apr 6: Meghalaya will have a new Advocate General with the state cabinet approving the name of Supreme Court advocate, Amit Kumar for the post.
Kumar will replace former Advocate General, B.P. Todi, who has resigned from the post recently.
Speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting here on Friday, Meghalaya law minister, James K. Sangma said that Kumar is the member of the Meghalaya High Court bar council.
“The government has gone strictly on merits while deciding to appoint Kumar for the post of Advocate General of the state,†James said.
