Shillong, Apr 25: Campaigning for the election to Williamnagar constituency ended on Wednesday.
Polling will be held on April 27.
Altogether nine candidates including sitting Congress MLA, Deborah C. Marak are in the fray.
The election to Williamnagar constituency was countermanded following the killing of NCP candidate, Jonathone N. Sangma on February 18.
The NCP is fielding Jonathone’s wife, Krenilla Marak as the candidate.
With 58 polling booths, Williamnagar constituency has a total of 32,345 voters.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma led the campaign for NPP candidate, Marcuise Marak while former Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma and other Congress leaders attended rallies and campaigned for Deborah.
NCP state president, Saleng A Sangma also campaigned for Krenilla.
Candidates of other parties including Independents also held meetings in various places and tried to woo voters in the last minute.
