CSWO asks Govt to ensure speedy delivery of services to public

Shillong, Apr 27:  The Civil Society Women’s Organization (CSWO) on Friday asked the Meghalaya government to come up with a legislation which will ensure speedy delivery of services to the public.

In a statement issued here, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said that the organization has received complaints from the general public with regards to difficulties faced as it took long to get their Scheduled Tribe/Caste certificate and the applicants are facing lot of problems when they submitted their application online due to poor connectivity.

“Elected representatives, representing the public should immediately sit down to bring out legislation for better delivery of services to the public, without having to make people wait and suffer,” Kharshiing said.

 Terming it harassment to the public, she said many applicants are not connected with internet and due to this, they are made to pay in cyber cafes from Rs 100 – Rs 300 or more for submitting the applications online.

“Moreover application by way of affidavits for birth certificates takes months together to be completed, which is causing great inconveniences to the applicants as it takes long to get an order from the court,” she said, and asked the government to ensure timely and speedy delivery of public services to the people.
