Shillong, May 14: Meghalaya Governor Ganga Prasad visited Mawkyrwat on Monday and held a review meeting with all heads of departments of South West Khasi Hills district at the Multi Purpose Hall in the office of the Deputy Commissioner at Mawkyrwat.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of various schemes and projects in the district.

Mawkyrwat MLA, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills district Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo, district Superintendent of Police, H. G. Lyngdoh, and other officers were also present in the meeting.

During the meeting, the Governor said that he has taken note of the needs of the district and would address the problems of road connectivity which is a lifeline and backbone that adds to the economy of the people.

He urged upon officers to work in tandem with the representatives and district administration in the implementation of schemes and projects for the welfare of the people and in taking the district to greater heights.

The Governor also urged the officials to take keen initiatives in looking after the villagers, especially farmers and provide them with innovative ideas and solutions that can help double their income.

He laid great stress on the overall development of the villagers as they need special care and attention while underlining the potentialities and resources that Meghalaya has and how to develop these potentialities which would benefit farmers.

The Governor also stressed on the need to take up Mushroom and Tomatoes cultivation and convert them into a food processing unit and other livelihood activities. He expected that much will be achieved through this forum by calling upon officers to work hard with determination and dedication.
