Shillong Jan 19: AICC secretary in-charge Arunachal Pradesh and Congress MLA, Zenith Sangma was on a two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh recently.
Sangma held internal meeting with several party leaders. Two sitting MLAs of the NPP, Tapseng Taposh and Rajesh Tamchi and two former BJP Ministers, Lishi Legi and Kamili Mosang jalong with many supporters joined the Indian National Congress during Sangma’s visit, at a function held at Congress Bhavan, Itanagar during
According to the Congress leader many more have expressed their willingness to join the party as people are not finding any alternative except the Congress party. “That is why they are joining the Congress even when it is not in power,†he said.
“This is just a beginning and very shortly, leaders including MLAs from other political parties are joining the Congress in Arunachal Pradesh and other parts of North East. This will lead to disintegration of the NEDA,” Sangma said.
He also said that while the BJP and its allies claimed that North East has become ‘Congress Mukh’ the party on the other hand is gaining strength in North East.
According to the AICC secretary, this was the reflection that people do not have faith in the BJP and its ally NPP.
Elaborating further, he said, “This is the reason that inspite of Congress being in opposition, sitting MLAs are deserting the NPP and BJP to join the Congress.”
“The people of the North East in particular, and the nation as a whole, have lost faith because of ill design in governance and anti-people policies of the BJP-led NDA government and they find no alternative to the Congress party.”
