New Delhi,May 10: Manipur’s Deputy Chief Minister Y. Joykumar Singh was informed by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr. Jitendra Singh here today that helicopter-based “Air Clinics” for Northeast will probably be initiated from the state.
The state’s Law and Health Minister, L. Jayantakumar, and Youth and Sports Minister, Letpao Haokip, were also present when this proposal was put forward by Dr. Singh.
Dr. Singh said that the aviation and health ministries have been taken on board and certain logistics and other issues need to be sorted out before this plan is made actionable. He also informed that he has had a detailed discussion with the management of Pawan Hans and other helicopter service providers on the subject.
Dr. Singh said air clinics would have makeshift OPDs of different specialties for remote and inaccessible areas. Chopper could also be used for transporting patients to hospitals, he added.
Deputy Chief Minister Joykumar Singh handed over a proposal seeking support of the Ministry of DoNER for developing infrastructure for advocates and other legal functionaries in Manipur.
Dr Jitendra Singh said the proposal would be evaluated for feasibility.
Dr. Singh also stressed upon expediting the process for land acquisition and transfer for setting up a sports university in Manipur.
He also shared a proposal to extend cancer-related healthcare facilities up to the district hospital level with the collaboration of Adyar Cancer Institute, Chennai.
He said a meeting of health ministers of all eight northeastern states is scheduled to be held soon to determine the further course of action in this regard. (ANI)
