Shillong, Apr 13: Members of the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District Council led by Chief Executive Member, Moonlight Pariat met Governor, Ganga Prasad and sought his intervention into the delay of the state government to forward the list of Executive Members (EMs) to Raj Bhavan for his approval.
The delegation that called on the Governor includes 10 UDP MDCs, 8 Congress and 1 BJP MDC
During the meeting, a memorandum was submitted to the Governor where Pariat informed that he had already submitted the names of the deputy chief executive member and 9 executive members to the District Council Affairs (DCA) on March 29.
He however said that the proposal was pending with the state government and the delay has caused problems and difficulties in running the administration of the district council.
The CEM has proposed the name of Lamdibok Sumer as the deputy CEM. The EMs also includes two Congress MDCs.
Pariat informed that the governor has assured the delegation that he would take up the matter very soon.
Meanwhile, chief minister, Conrad K Sangma has forwarded the file related to the appointment of Executive Members to the governor for his assent.
UDP Jaintia Hills general secretary, Kitboklang Nongtdu lauded the UDP president, Dr Donkupar Roy for taking up the matter with the Chief Minister and the thanked the Chief Minister for forwarding the file to the Governor.
Earlier, the UDP leadership in Jaiñtia Hills had threatened of asking the UDP Central leadership to pull out of the MDA government if the file is not forwarded to the Governor for his assent.
