Shillong, Aug 30: Police on Wednesday recovered arms and ammunition hidden by militants belonging to the proscribed Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA), in a jungle at a remote village in West Khasi Hills district.

Police said that information was received about the concealment of arms by GNLA militants at Riangdim-Nengdawak and Wakphangram jungle.

Immediately a police team from Shahlang along with SF-10 personnel conducted search operation in jungles and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition.

These include 1 Insas Rifle, 1 AK-47 Rifle, 1 hand grenade, 1 kg of gelatine stick, 10 SBBL live ammunition, 86 AK live ammunition, 1 magazine pouch, 1 camouflage pant.

According to police, operation under Shallang areas have been intensified to nuetralise the militants.
