Mokokchung, April 2:  Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR North) conducted an operation alongwith a police representative based on specific information in general area Longleng, Mokokchung on 01Apr 2018.

During the operation. Assam Rifles troops apprehended one NSCN (R) cadre alongwith three civilians in illegal possession of arms and ammunition. The recovery from the operation included nine muzzle loaded Rifles, one 12 bore Rifles, one pt 22mm Rifles with magazine, one pt 22 pistol with magazine, ten live rounds of AK-47, 12 live rounds of 12 bore, 46 live rounds of pt 22mm, 27 live rounds of 7.35mm, 50 gms gun powder, Drugs to include brown sugar and opium worth Rs. 1,15,000/-, Indian currency Rs. 30742/- in cash and 13 bottles of liquor.

The apprehendees were identified as SS Corporal Mankub Phom S/O Shasing Phom, age 39 years resident of Tangha vill, mr Taushong Phom S/O Baushong Phom, age 43 years, resident of Tangha, Nganom Phom S/O Longthang Phom, age 17 years, resident of Tangha and Mr Phamugee Phom S/O Kangkau Phom, age 34, resident of Longleng medical ward.

The apprehendees alongwith recovered items were handed over to Longleng Police Station for further investigation.
