Bank Fraud: Police issue advisory notice to the public

Email :34

Shillong, March 26: The Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, has informed on Monday that FIRs have been received from individuals of being cheated by callers who identify themselves as Bank Executives (usually SBI) calling from Mumbai, etc., telling the victims that his/her ATM Card is going to be blocked due to some technical reason and then ask for the Account Number and ATM Pin. As soon as the victims disclose their bank details, money is withdrawn from their account.

Since these callers are preying on people who are not aware of the racket, all fellow citizens are requested not to respond such calls and also their Bank Account No. and details of ATM Code should not be shared either with these callers or with any individuals as there is no such provision of any Bank to ask for Account as well as ATM details over phone.
