Shillong, January 22: Cabinet Minister and senior BJP leader Sanbor Shullai on Thursday expressed strong confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party will retain power in Assam, asserting that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will continue to lead the state after the 2026 Assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters, Shullai said the BJP’s development-driven governance and decisive leadership under Sarma have strengthened public support across Assam. He predicted a decisive mandate in favour of the party, stating that there was “no doubt” about the BJP returning to power with Himanta Biswa Sarma at the helm.
Shullai’s remarks come as the BJP intensifies its campaign in Assam, highlighting infrastructure growth, welfare initiatives and governance reforms undertaken during the current tenure. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also expressed confidence in a resounding victory, forecasting a “clean sweep” in the forthcoming Assembly polls.
The BJP leadership has reiterated its commitment to sustained development, political stability and effective governance in Assam, positioning the party for another strong electoral performance in 2026.
