Shillong Jan 21: BJP legislator representing South Shillong constituency, Sanbor Shullai met Union minister for tourism and culture, Prahlad Singh Patel and discussed with him the Central ministry’s support for tourism development in the state of Meghalaya.
Shullai who is also the chairman of the Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), was accompanied by state BJP president, Ernest Mawrie and a host of BJP leaders.
During the meeting, Shullai requested the Union minister for early release of the first instalment under the Development of Northeast Circuit for which the Central government had sanctioned Rs. 85 crore.
The MTDC chairman also requested for early sanctioning of Spirtual Circuit and Prasad scheme for which the state government had submitted a total project costing to the tune of Rs. 97 crore.
Shullai also informed the Union minister that the state has benefitted from sustained self revenue generation and employment from the Swadesh scheme.
The BJP MLA also requested the minister to support Meghalaya by sanctioning various funds so as to support the 20-year vision document to be launched by the MTDC for the overall tourism development and employment generation for the state and its youth.
The Union tourism minster has assured to give priority to the MTDC.
