BJP rejects, NPP accepts BJP MDC as candidate from Khliehriat

Shillong, Feb 2: Sitting MDC of the BJP from Khliehriat, Violet Lyngdoh on Friday resigned from the party and joined the NPP an ally of the NDA.

After joining NPP, she applied for party ticket and was declared as the party candidate from Khliehriat constituency, against BJP nominee, Justine Dkhar.

Lyngdoh who is the sister of State BJP president, Shibun Lyngdoh was denied party ticket by the BJP leadership.

Lyngdoh resigned from the BJP and dissolved the different committees of the Khliehriat unit of the BJP before she formally joined NPP along with her supporters.

Lyngdoh said that the Khliehriat mandal, Mahila Morcha East Jaintia District, 38 booths level, Yuva Morcha BJYM, ST Morcha, Kissan Morcha and Media Cell were dissolved.

 

“I am happy that NPP has accepted me and allotted party ticket to me. I will work to further the growth of NPP in Khliehriat constituency under the dynamic leadership of national president, Conrad K. Sangma,” Lyngdoh said.

Conrad congratulated Lyngdoh and welcomed her to the party and assured all support in the battle to further the growth and success of the people.

Welcoming Lyngdoh into the party, State NPP president, Dr. W.R. Kharlukhi said, “Lyngdoh’s wealth of experience at the grassroot will be an advantage for the party as we work together to push our agenda for a new Meghalaya”.
