Shillong, Dec 7: Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya Frontier, L. Mohanti visited border areas in West Garo Hills district and reviewed the status of border fencing, floodlight and border roads.
He was accompanied by the DIG, Sector Headquarter Tura.
The Inspector General BSF also visited the War Memorial Kilapara, known as a place of sacrifice and paid homage to BSF heroes of 1971 Indo-Pak War. The names of nine BSF martyrs who laid their lives, are engraved in golden letters on the War Memorial. Their supreme sacrifice denied the strategic control over the Dalu-Tura road during the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
Paying gratitude to the gallant BSF heroes, he laid wreath at the memorial.
The Inspector General BSF also interacted with the troops and appreciated their hard work in the tough and treacherous terrain defying the odd weather conditions.
During the visit, he also met officials of the Border Guard Bangladesh and handed over sweets to the BGB troops and complimented them for the bonhomie and cordial relations being maintained by the BGB and BSF.
