Shillong Aug 8: The enhancement of price limit for purchase of vehicles for VIPs and officials of the state was approved by the Meghalaya cabinet on Wednesday.
The price limit was enhanced for VIPs right from the governor, chief minister, deputy chief minister and ministers, chief secretary, and officers of various ranks.
Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said that for the Governor and Chief Minister, the limit is Rs 40 lakh.
While the limit is Rs 20 lakh for deputy chief minister, ministers and chief secretary, Rs 12 lakh has been fixed for additional chief secretaries, director-general of police, principal secretaries, and principal chief conservator of forest.
The price limit is Rs 10 lakh for commissioner and secretaries and officers of all India services, Rs 9 lakh for secretaries, head of departments Rs 7.5 lakh, and Rs 7 lakh for district level officers.
According to Tynsong, there was no limit especially for the Governor and Chief Minister.
The names of VIPs who will take the salute and hoist the national flag on Independence Day were also approved by the Cabinet
The Cabinet also approved retired defence officers – Colonel Gautam Kumar Rai as Director of the Sainak Welfare Board, and Major Khumukcham Ibochouba Singh as Zilla Sainik Welfare Officer in the Zilla Sainik.
The Cabinet also has also given its nod to the draft Meghalaya Prisons Service rules. Earlier, the prison department did not have its service rules.
