SHILLONG, Oct 29: The Meghalaya Cabinet has approved the rationalization of government Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) schools, marking a significant step in the state’s education reforms.
Announcing the decision after the Cabinet meeting, Cabinet Minister and MDA government spokesperson Wailadmiki Shylla said, “We have approved the rationalization of government SSA schools.”
Shylla informed that the move follows recent discussions between the Chief Minister and the Education Minister with SSA teachers, who had sought a revised pay structure and school rationalization to ensure better efficiency and management under the scheme.
“The government has agreed to their demands and approved the rationalization process,” he said.
However, the minister clarified that the exact figures and impact of the rationalization are yet to be finalized, as the Education Department is still working on the detailed framework.
