Campaigning to district council polls ends

KHADC Assures Timely Issuance of Land Title Rights Certificates

Shillong, Feb 19: Campaigning for the February 21 elections to the KHADC and the JHADC came to an end at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

During this period individuals are prohibited from convening, holding, attending, joining, or addressing any public meeting or procession related to the election and using loudspeakers during the 48 hours.

All exit polls/opinion polls and the publication, publicity, or dissemination of such polls in any manner whatsoever, in any print or electronic media, including social media is also prohibited.

Both the KHADC and the JHADC have 29 seats each and counting will be held on February 24.

In the KHADC elections, 158 candidates—including 146 men and 12 women—will be vying for seats across 29 constituencies. Meanwhile, JHADC will see 114 candidates—107 men and seven women—competing for representation in its 29 constituencies as well.
