Shillong, Oct 29: All-rounder Cheanchi Kambesa Sangma starred with both bat and ball to guide Meghalaya to a 31-run victory over Arunachal Pradesh in the U-19 Women’s T20 Trophy 2025–26 (Plate Group) match played in Lucknow on Wednesday.
Cheanchi produced a match-winning performance, scoring an unbeaten 30 runs and later taking 3 wickets for 12 runs, helping Meghalaya register their first win of the season after back-to-back losses to Sikkim and Manipur.
Put in to bat first after losing the toss, Meghalaya managed 91/6 in 20 overs. Monica Singh contributed a brisk 27 off 24 balls, while Jayshee Singh added 14 from 32 deliveries. Cheanchi anchored the innings with a composed 30 not out off 39 balls to lift the team to a defendable total.
In reply, Arunachal Pradesh were restricted to 60/9 in their 20 overs, thanks to a disciplined bowling display by Meghalaya. Apart from Cheanchi’s 3/12, Jayshree Singh delivered an exceptional spell of 3/9 in 4 overs, while Fennysha Nongrum (1/8) and Banchila R. Marak (1/12) also chipped in with key wickets.
For Arunachal, Kino Nanung top-scored with 27 off 44 balls, but found little support from her teammates as the chase faltered.
With this win, Meghalaya opened their account in the tournament and will next face Nagaland on Friday.
