Shillong Aug 30: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said that the state government was working earnestly to address the concerns of limited job opportunities.
The Chief Minister who attended the Silver Jubilee celebration of Sacred Heart Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Mawlai on Friday, addressed the students, and advised them to be disciplined, respect for the elders and work hard to succeed in life.
‘The present world is full distractions that will deter you from achieving your goals. It is important that you remain grounded in your values and not lose focus’, he said.
The Chief Minister informed that out of 9 lakhs eligible youth in the State, only 2 lakhs are fortunate to receive school or college education, adding that the Government is putting all efforts to increase the number of schools and colleges with a special emphasis on higher and technical education.
The Chief Minister also said that 30 different residential schools funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs are being set up across all districts of the State.
Stating that over 1 lakh youth in the State entered the workforce every year, the Chief Minister stressed the need to create more employment opportunities.
“The Government is working earnestly to address the concerns of limited job opportunities,” he said while urging all stakeholders to work together for the welfare and progress of the State.
Teachers of the school who completed 25 years of service were also felicitated by the Chief Minister at the function.
