CM inaugurates new building of St. Joseph’s H/S School Pynthorumkhrah

Shillong, Sept 14: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma on Friday inaugurated the new building and the Higher Secondary Section of St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Pynthorumkhrah, Shillong in the present of Minister for Education, Lahkmen Rymbui, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, A. L. Hek, who is also the MLA of Pynthorumkhrah constituency, MDC, James Ban Basaiawmoit, Rev. Dr. Fr. Ioannis War Pakma, Parish Priest and Secretary Managing Committee of the School, Rev. Dr. Fr. A. L. Jose, SDB, Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Sr. Selinda Wanniang, Principal, St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, teachers and students.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister, said that the primary objective of education should be to transform the lives of students and make them more responsible and good citizen of the country and described education as “the passport for the future of young generations.”

He also reminded that to pass out from schools and colleges and get degrees is not enough. “What is more important is the kind of human beings we are, and that humility, commitment, discipline are the qualities that academicians and educationists aspired to instill in the mind of the students.”

Others who spoke on the occasion include Rymbui, Hek, Rev. Dr. Fr. Ioannis War Pakma, Parish Priest and Secretary Managing Committee.
