CoHSO writes to Meghalaya CM over implementation of ILP, NRC

Shillong, Feb 5: The Confederation of Hynñiewtrep Social Organizations (CoHSO) on Tuesday submitted a letter to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma demanding implementation of the Inner Line Permit and National Register of Citizens in Meghalaya.

CoHSO chairman Robertjune Kharjahrin in his letter to Sangma, demanded from the state government to take necessary steps to implement the ILP system and NRC in the whole state to protect and safeguard the rights and privileges of the indigenous people.

Kharjahrin, who is also the president of the Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC) conveyed to the Chief Minister the “unanimous decision” taken at an Assembly of Hynñiewtrep people (Dorbar Bah ki Khun Hynñiewtrep) at Student’s Field, Jaïaw on January 31 where over 40 thousand people opposed the Citizenship Amendment Bill and demanded implementation of ILP.
