Shillong, Dec 5: The Confederation of Hynñiewtrep Social Organization (CoHSO) will stage a black flag march to oppose the Centre’s Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in the state capital on Friday.
The Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha in July 2016 to amend the Citizenship Act, 1955 to make illegal migrants who belong to six communities – Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan – eligible for citizenship of India.
The march will start from Dhankheti where the bust of former KSU leader, Bull Lyngdoh to the parking lot near additional secretariat.
The CoHSO comprises of 14 social organizations which include HYC, JSU, JYF, HANM, AJSU, WJNC, EJNC, RBSU, CORP, MPUF, JSM, WKSU, WYF and HPF. Before the march, the Confederation will also pay tribute to the former leader.
