Shillong, Mar 19: Opposition Congress legislator from Mawsynram Himalaya Muktan Shangpliang on Thursday asked the state government to consider opening more health sub-centres in the state.
Raising a supplementary query during the question hour in the Assembly, Shangpliang said that the heatlh situation in the state is not too good and that it is essential for the government to open more sub-centre so that health care can be provided to the last mile.
“I request the government to examine this proposal (since) the ministry of tribal affairs do provide funds for setting up sub-centres,” he said.
In his reply, health minister AL Hek assured to look into the matter as he said that the state government is very keen to have more health sub-centres in the state.
Earlier, Hek informed that the governemnt is planning to upgrade the Tikrikilla PHC to CHC.
He said that the DPR will be prepared as and when land is made available through the district medical & health officer (DM&HO), West Garo Hills.
The minister however said that there is no proposal to create a new health sub-centre at Debragre and Imping village.
