Congress announces 57 candidates, chief minister, Dr Mukul Sangma will contest from two seats

Shillong, Jan 27: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has announced a list of candidates from 57 seats for the upcoming Assembly polls in Meghalaya slated for February 27.

The list comprised of chief minister, Mukul Sangma who is contesting from two constituencies, his home seat, Ampati and Songsak constituency being represented by MLA of the opposition National People’s Party (NPP), Nihim D. Shira.

The list of candidates was released by senior Congress leader, Oscar Fenandez who is the chairman of the AICC screening committee for Meghalaya.

The three constituencies where candidates are yet to be announced include, South Shillong, Khliehriat, and Pynthorumkhrah constituency, which was represented earlier by former Congress MLA, A.L. Hek who has gone back to the BJP.
