“In view of the recent development in the Ranikor BCC, and to revamp the party organisation at the BCC level, I am directed to inform that the convener and members of the Ranikor BCC are hereby appointed,” MPCC general-secretary, Dr.Manash Das Gupta said in a statement issued here on Friday

Prosperous K. Nongmin has been appointed as the convener of the RBCC while Khranglin Lyngkhoi, J.C. Diengngan, Mabadon Nonglyer, Leenga A.Sangma, and Haripodo Hajong are members of the adhoc committee

The Convener and the members were directed to organize all the primary units under the RBCC at the earliest and report to the MPCC to facilitate early formation of an Executive Committee of the Ranikor BCC.

On June 12, Congress leaders and workers from all the 65 primary units of the Ranikor Block Congress Committee resigned enmass and joined the NPP in the presence of NPP state president, Dr W.R. Kharlukhi and other NPP leaders at a public meeting in Ranikor.

The Congress flag was removed while the NPP flag was put up at the function which marked the dissolution of the Ranikor Block Congress Committee.

Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma who visited Ranikor constituency on that day assured the people that the Ranikor Administrative Unit would be upgraded into a Civil Sub Division soon.

Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, and other ministers and MLAs also visited the area.

Senior Congress MLA from Ranikor, also the former PWD (roads) minister, Martin M. Danggo said that he would leave the Congress and join the NPP on the day of the inauguration of the Civil Sub Division.

But the Congress has criticized Danggo’s move, saying that the Ranikor MLA had demanded from the previous Congress-led government only an Administrative unit at Ranikor not the Civil Sub Division.

Congress MLA and spokesperson of the Congress Legislature Party, Zenith Sangma said that the demand to make Ranikor a Civil Sub Division has come up only now.
