Shillong, Aug 31: Urban Affairs Minister and Congress leader, Ronnie V. Lyngdoh on Thursday said that the two sitting Independent MLAs have not joined the BJP and described BJP a “good deceiver.”
Lyngdoh said that the two MLAs – Robinus Syngkon and Justine Dkhar were yet to join the BJP, but the BJP was good at deceiving the people by announcing that the MLAs have already joined the BJP.
Syngkon and Dkhar, had met BJP national president, Amit Shah at his residence in New Delhi and urged him to take up with the Centre to ensure that the ban on coal mining in Meghalaya by the NGT is lifted, as well as to exempt Meghalaya from Central laws related to mining by applying Para 12 (a) (b) of the Sixth Schedule.
Both Syngkon and Dkhar are parliamentary secretaries in the Congress-led government under Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma.
Lyngdoh also said that BJP spokesman, Nalin Kohli’s assurance to find solution on coal mining ban within six to eight months if the BJP is voted to power was only “a promise to deceive the people. When coal mining is being banned by NGT, how can anyone give such promises that within six months the ban will be lifted? This is just to fool the people for their electoral benefits and the people knew that such false promises are only for winning election.”
The Minister lambasted the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre saying, the promise of the BJP to create two crore jobs before after coming to power at the Centre did not materialize till date..
“They are in power now for three years, but they could not fulfill the promise to create 2 crore jobs in the country. Instead, unemployment problem has increased in the country,” Lyngdoh said.
Lyngdoh, who is the Congress MLA from Mylliem also said that the BJP made all attempts to make inroads in Meghalaya, but the Congress would come back to power in 2018 and alleged the BJP that with all money power, they lost the Assembly election in Punjab, and with all resources at their command, the mandate of the people in Goa and Manipur was for the Congress.
“But the BJP betrayed the mandate of the people and snatched power by trampling upon the democratic convention without respecting people’s mandate. The BJP will do anything to get power, which I think, is the biggest corruption that you can enact upon the people,” Lyngdoh alleged.
He claimed that the people in Meghalaya have reposed faith and confidence on the Congress especially after seeing the present situation in the country.
