Congress releases its manifesto; transparent and effective public delivery system highlighted

Shillong,Feb 24:  Pledging to create three lakh new jobs, and provide one job or livelihood per youth per every needy, the Congress party on Saturday promised toroposed to set up an exclusive market for women at Shillong, Tura and Jowai, if voted to power in the upcoming Assembly polls to be held on February 27.

With just three days to go for poll Meghalaya Congress released its manifesto in three places simultaneously_ Shillong, Jowai and Tura  on Saturday.

AICC general secretary incharge of Meghalaya, CP Joshi released the  manifesto in Shillong ,  Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma at Tura  and in Jowai, it was released by Shillong MP Vincent Pala.

Highlighting the achievements of the Congress government in the last 8 years, the manifesto  also pledge to set a transparent and effective public delivery system and voted its commitment to enhance health care facilities, education, youth and women empowerment, infrastructure, environment, education, interstate border, influx & illegal immigration and law & order.

Exclusive market for women at Shillong, Tura and Jowai, where the retailers shall  all be women, among the highlights.
    The party also proposed that it shall provide a lump sum amount of Rs 15000 as a wedding assistance to orphaned girl child.
      “We will set a new benchmark of transparent and effective public delivery system which will ensure that the governance is pro people,” the Congress party pledged in its manifesto which was released here by Congress General Secretary CP Joshi along with the state office bearers.
       On education sector, the party proposed to have a  special initiative on Human Capital Development for ensuring employ ability of the youth with special focus on the school and college drop outs.
       “We will strive to arrive  at mutually acceptable solution to resolve the problems  pertaining to areas of difference along Assam-Meghalaya border,” the party pledged on interstate border.
     On employment and youth empowerment, the party proposed to create 3,lakh new job and provide one job/livelihood per youth per every needy family.
      To nurture young people as digital entrepreneurs, it promised to launch a new programme Entrepreneurship Program Through Digital Business (ETDB).
       On influx and illegal immigration, the party in its manifesto stated that is committed to complete the process of placing a comprehensive measures to address this issue to ensure that the demographic structure of the state is not disturbed.
        “No outlaw will be allowed to disturb the peace of the state. We will have ‘zero tolerance; to any desperate act of militancy,” the party pledged.
In order to offset farmer’s distress, the Congress promised to provide ‘seed capital assistance’ to every small and marginal farmers during every agriculture season.
        On health sector, the party promised to bring even more families under the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) to ensure universal coverage.
        For media, the party promised to establish a technologically advanced and well equipped media centre in Shillong to provide the journalists with an avenue for a conducive environment to reach out to the masses effectively.
      The other promises made by the party are to ensure last mile road connectivity of all weather roads, housing assistance to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS),  to promote solar and alternate means of energy, bringing investment into the state and peomotion of Border haats.
