Shillong Oct 2: Former Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma on Tuesday termed Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma a nominee of the BJP.
Interacting with reporters here, Dr Sangma who is the Leader of Opposition in Assembly slammed the BJP for not fulfilling its promise to lift the ban on coal mining in Meghalaya within six months despite running the government.
“The BJP is running the government and chief minister, Conrad K. Sangma is its nominee,†he said, while stating that many BJP leaders had promised during election campaign to the people of Meghalaya that they would lift the ban on coal mining within six months after coming to power.
Dr Mukul also lambasted the BJP and the NDA government at the Centre and said that the alliance would change in 2019 because of the “anti-people†agendas of the BJP and the NDA government.
Dr Mukul said that a non-BJP government will be formed in 2019, and there is no alternative in the country except the Congress.
“People thought that the BJP was an alternative, but now they realized and have seen things going on in the country,†he said.
He also alleged that other parties are not serious in fighting against the BJP, and they instead busy in dividing the people.
Whether the Congress can win next year’s Lok Sabha polls under the leadership of party president, Rahul Gandhi, Mukul said that the question mark was raised by the BJP and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, as their job has been to create perception against leaders.
He also slammed the NDA government for withdrawing the Special Plan Assistance since 2014, though the assistance had been a great help for states especially in the Northeast.
