Sangma in his short speech, said that NPP extended unanimous support to elect Modi as the leader of the NDA as well as to be the Prime Minister of the country.

The NPP leader ended his speech with “Khublei, Mitela, Thank You.”

The NDA leaders handed over a letter to the President informing him that Modi has been elected as the leader of the NDA Parliamentary Board.

Modi was also appointed the Prime Minister-elect by the President, who also invited him to form the new government after the BJP and the NDA unanimously elected him as their leader.

Modi reached the Rashtrapati Bhawan Saturday night to stake claim to form the next government.

During the day on Saturday, the Election Commission called on the President and handed over a list of 542 newly-elected Lok Sabha members.

Earlier, Modi bowed before the Constitution before starting his address at the NDA parliamentary meeting.

Modi said that the minorities of the country have for years been betrayed for political interests. “Minorities have been kept in fear, used in elections. We have to end this cycle,” he said.

“We have to regain trust of all. We are for the ones who votes for us and we are also for the ones who did not vote for us. We are for those who trusted us and also for those, whose trust we have to win over,” Modi to NDA MPs

Thanking NDA leaders for their support, Modi said, “Senior colleagues of the NDA have showered their blessings on me, and have chosen me as their leader. However, I consider this to be merely part of a system. I am one of you, and am an equal to you. We have to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with each other.”

Modi who is likely to take oath on May 30 as the new Prime Minister to lead the NDA government for the second time in a row, said that for India’s development, it is important that regional aspirations and national ambition need to be respected.

“The word slogan, ‘NARA’ stands for ‘National Ambition and Regional Aspirations’,” Modi said.

He also urged all NDA MPs to work in the spirit of inclusiveness and public service, namely “Sabka saath, sabka vikas aur sabka vishwas” (solidarity with everyone, development for all, with the trust of all).
